You’ve prayed. You’ve persisted. You’ve fought to stay hopeful in the middle of the financial storm. And yet, breakthrough still feels just out of reach. But what if your current struggle is not God’s rejection but preparation?
Many believers ask for financial abundance, but few are willing to become the kind of person who can carry it. Before God blesses you with wealth, He develops your heart. Because money, for all its power, is merely a tool - and a dangerous one in the wrong hands.
That’s why Scripture warns, “For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil.” - 1 Timothy 6:10 (NLT)
The danger isn’t in the money itself, but in how we treat it. There are three traits God looks for before He entrusts wealth to His children: generosity, stewardship, and faithfulness.
#1 Generosity
God doesn’t respond to greed; He responds to giving. Generosity isn’t about manipulating God into blessing you; it’s about demonstrating that money doesn’t have your heart.
Scripture is clear: “God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.” - 2 Corinthians 9:8 (NLT)
The goal of biblical prosperity isn’t luxury. It’s overflow, for the sake of others. That’s real prosperity: having your needs met and enough left over to bless those around you.
#2 Stewardship
It’s not enough to give; you must also manage well what you have. Some cry out for financial miracles but haven’t learned to handle money wisely. They give generously, but they also overspend, live beyond their means, and blame the devil for what discipline could fix.
Jesus said, “To those who use well what they are given, even more will be given.” - Matthew 25:29 (NLT)
God is a God of order, and His blessing flows where there is diligence.
#3 Faithfulness
Perhaps the most overlooked key. Some give for a few months and stop. Others budget for a few weeks and quit. But breakthrough belongs to the consistent.
“At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up” - Galatians 6:9 (NLT).
The blessing isn’t for those who try; it’s for those who persist. If God hasn’t brought the financial breakthrough yet, it’s not because He’s ignoring your prayers. It may be because He’s still forming your character. When you walk in generosity, master stewardship, and hold fast in faithfulness, you position yourself for the release.
So don’t just ask God to bless your finances. Ask Him to build you into the kind of person He can trust with abundance.
