The Same Holy Spirit That Empowered Jesus Lives In You
Perhaps you’re someone who, deep down, senses that something’s missing in your Christian walk. You read about miracles in Scripture, you hear testimonies of God’s power, and you wonder, “Why doesn’t my life look like that?”
Have faith, for the power you long for is just within reach. Jesus walked in divine power, but He didn’t walk in it merely because He was God. He walked in it because He was filled with the Holy Spirit, and the same Spirit who empowered Him now lives in you.
Philippians 2 tells us that though Jesus was God, He “gave up His divine privileges” and “humbled Himself in obedience to God.” Think about that. Jesus embraced voluntary, temporary weakness as a human. Because He was God, He could have removed those limitations from Himself at any point, but He humbly accepted human nature. Truly God, truly man.
In that embraced weakness, the Son of God chose to rely on the Holy Spirit. At His baptism, the Spirit descended like a dove, and from that moment, every miracle, every deliverance, every healing flowed through that divine partnership.
Jesus relied on the Spirit to show us how to live in holy dependence. If the spotless Son of God leaned on the Spirit, what makes us think we can do anything apart from Him?
The same Spirit who gave Jesus power to heal the sick, cast out demons, and preach the Gospel is the Spirit who now dwells in you. Romans 8:11 declares, “The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you.”
Think about that. The same Spirit who raised Jesus from the grave dwells in you, waiting to move through your surrender. So, why do we hesitate when the Spirit asks us to step out in faith - to witness, to give, to obey? When has the Holy Spirit ever failed those who trust Him?
If Jesus needed the Holy Spirit, so do you. If Jesus relied on the Holy Spirit, so should you. Surrender. Yield. Let Him empower what you surrender and strengthen what is weak.
