Stop Saying “One Day”
Have you ever caught yourself saying, “One day God will do it”? One day, the miracle will come. One day, the breakthrough will arrive. It sounds spiritual, but in reality, it’s sometimes just a way of protecting ourselves from disappointment. I mean that by adding some time in between what is and what we believe can one day be, we insulate ourselves against potential hurt. Sometimes, we keep pushing the miracle into the future because that feels safer than believing that the miracle will happen right now. This is where many become stuck; it’s the hope of eventually versus the expectation of now. Of course, we trust in God’s timing, and we’re not always going to get what we want right when we want it. But I’d rather live in present faith than in “one day” wishing.
Jesus said, “You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father. Yes, ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it” - John 14:13–14 (NLT)
Those are not words to water down or explain away, though some have tried. Those are words to believe. Faith doesn’t deny the problem; it sees beyond it. Faith doesn’t ignore the impossibility; it acknowledges that with God, impossibility is irrelevant. Faith is not tomorrow’s hope; faith is today’s substance. “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” - Hebrews 11:1 (KJV).
So stop postponing your belief. Don’t wait for “one day.” Believe God today. Rejoice now, not when the miracle comes, but because you already have the faith for it. If you can believe for it, truly believe, it’s yours.
